What is the RGPD?
The General Data Protection Regulation (or RGPD) is a European Union regulation adopted by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. This regulation deals with issues relating to personal data. Applicable since 25 May 2018 throughout Europe, it reinforces and completes the principles established by the 1978 Data Protection Act. In France, the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés) is in charge of ensuring the proper application of the RGPD by the companies concerned by the regulation. As soon as a company collects personal data, the CNIL monitors compliance with the data protection rules.
The GDPR aims to harmonise the national rules of the European Union members in the field of personal data. The objective of the RGPD is to increase data protection for data subjects involved in the processing of personal data.
The challenges of the RGPD
The RGPD makes a major contribution to the interests of Internet users from the point of view of security and freedom.

The RGPD also includes recognition of a right to be forgotten, to obtain the withdrawal or deletion of personal data in the event of a breach of privacy, the right to data portability, to be able to move from one social network, ISP or streaming site to another without losing one's information, and the right to be informed in the event of data hacking.
